MyTouch Icon Automation LLP (We) operates the Oolalala mobile application and the website www.oolalala.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a safe experience on our platform.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our long-distance car-pooling and seat-sharing platform. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Definitions
- "Rider" refers to a user who requests or books a ride.
- "Partner" or "Driver" refers to a user who offers a ride, including Private Car Owners (offering cost-sharing rides) and Commercial Taxi Operators (offering taxi services).
- "Service" refers to the Oolalala mobile application and website.
3. RCS Onboarding & Promotional Consent
As part of the RCS onboarding process, by submitting your information on our website, you provide your consent to receive promotional communications from Oolalala on multiple channels, including:
- RCS
- SMS
- Voice
4. Information We Collect
We collect different types of information to provide and improve our service.
A. Personal Information (Identity & Verification)
To register and use our services, we may ask for:
- Identity Data: Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and Profile Picture.
- Verification Data (For Partners): Government-issued ID (such as Driving License or other officially valid documents).
- Aadhaar, if provided voluntarily, is collected in a masked format and used only for identity verification, in compliance with applicable laws. Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC Book), and Insurance details. This is mandatory to verify the legality of the vehicle (White Board vs. Yellow Board) and ensure community safety.
B. Location Data
- Precise Location: We collect your precise location data to match Riders with Partners, calculate fares/cost-sharing, and provide navigation.
- Background Location Usage Justification (For Partners/Drivers): Oolalala collects background location data for Drivers only during an active trip or when the Driver is available for long-distance travel. This is essential to enable real-time trip tracking for Rider safety, ensure accurate pickup coordination, and prevent fraud. Background location is never used for advertising or unrelated purposes.
- If you are a Driver / Partner, we collect your location data. This is required to:
- Enable "Live Ride Tracking" for the Rider (safety monitoring).
- Allow the system to allocate nearby ride requests efficiently without you keeping the screen on.
C. Payment & Financial Information
- For Riders: We collect transaction details related to your rides (amount, date, time, and payment method). We do not store your complete credit card numbers, CVV, or Netbanking passwords. All online payments are processed by secure third-party Payment Gateways (e.g., Razorpay, Cashfree).
- For Partners: We collect your financial information, including Bank Account Number, IFSC Code, and UPI ID, to facilitate settlements and payouts. We also track your "Oolalala Wallet" balance and recharge history to manage platform commissions for cash trips.
D. Device & Usage Information
We collect information about your mobile device (Device ID, model, OS version, IP address) and how you use the app (ride history, tap interactions, crash logs) to prevent fraud and improve app stability.
E. Contact List (Optional)
We may request access to your contacts only if you choose to use specific features like "SOS/Emergency Contacts" or "Refer a Friend. We do not upload, store, or retain your entire contact list on our servers. Only the contacts you explicitly select for SOS or referral purposes are processed.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use your data for the following specific purposes:
- Service Delivery: To connect Riders with Car Owners/Drivers, calculate routes, and facilitate the journey.
- Safety & Verification: To verify that drivers have valid licenses and vehicles (RC Book) and to screen for commercial permit compliance where applicable.
- Payment Processing: To process ride payments, manage Driver Wallet balances (deducting commissions for cash rides), and automate payouts/settlements to drivers.
- Customer Support: To resolve disputes, lost items, or technical issues using your trip history.
- Communications: To send booking confirmations, OTPs (via SMS), and important service updates.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with Indian laws and regulations regarding transport safety and taxation.
6. App Permissions
To function correctly, the Oolalala App requires specific permissions. You can deny these, but some features may not work.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Required to pick up your current location for booking.
- ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION: Required for Drivers to share live location with passengers during a trip for safety.
- CAMERA: Required to upload photos of ID proofs, Vehicle documents, or profile photos during KYC.
- READ_CONTACTS: Required only if you wish to add Emergency Contacts for the SOS feature.
NOTE: We use the secure SMS Retriever API for OTP verification. This allows us to verify your mobile number without requesting permission to read your private SMS messages.
7. Disclosure of Data
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it in the following scenarios:
With Other Users:
- Riders: Your name and pickup location are shared with the Driver.
- Drivers: Your name, vehicle number, profile photo, and live location are shared with the Rider.
With Service Providers:
We share data with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as:
- Payment Gateways: (Razorpay/Cashfree) to process payments. These entities are bound by RBI regulations and PCI-DSS security standards.
- SMS/Map Providers: (Google Maps, Firebase, MSG91) for navigation and OTP delivery.
For Legal Reasons:
We may share data with Law Enforcement Agencies if required by Indian Law (e.g., in case of an accident, criminal investigation, or safety incident).
8. Refund & Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation by Rider: If a Rider cancels a ride after the Driver has accepted it, a cancellation fee may be charged or deducted from the wallet/refund amount, as per the cancellation terms shown at the time of booking.
- Cancellation by Driver: If the Driver cancels, a full refund of any advance paid by the Rider will be initiated to the original payment source.
- Refund Timeline: All eligible refunds are processed by our banking partners and typically reflect in the user's bank account within 5 to 7 business days.
- Platform fees may be non-refundable
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures (SSL encryption, secure servers, and restricted access) to protect your data. We do not sell user data to third parties. Users have the right to access, update, or delete their personal information as described in this policy. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.
How to Delete Your Account:
In compliance with Google Play Store policies, you have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated data.
- In-App: Go to Menu > Settings > Delete Account.
- By Email: You can email us at support@oolalala.com with the subject "Delete My Account."
- Timeline: Upon request, we will delete your personal information within 90 days, except for transaction history which we are required to retain by law for tax and audit purposes.
11. Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent and aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
